Our middle school students are diving deep into history and citizenship through an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) project. They’re analyzing primary and secondary sources to understand better the motivations behind key movements and documents that have shaped the United States — from the Founding Documents to the Abolition and Women's Suffrage Movements, all the way to today's views on community and citizenship.
As part of their project, they need YOUR input! ✨ By taking a few minutes to complete their student-created surveys, you'll provide valuable perspectives that inspire three incredible works of art. These pieces will visually highlight the evolution of citizenship throughout U.S. history.

This document provides important basic information regarding your rights as a parent of a child with a disability in South Dakota. If you would like a paper copy, please contact special education staff at the school.

Survey to Be Conducted
at Tiospa Zina Tribal School
On January 15th, students in 6th-12th grades will begin taking the Our Youth, Our Future survey in cooperation with the Tri-Ethnic Center for Prevention Research at Colorado State University. The funding for the administration of the survey comes from a federal grant awarded to the Tri-Ethnic Center, which allows the survey to be conducted at no cost to the school. Participation in this survey is voluntary, anonymous, and confidential.
Parents who wish to withdraw their child from participating may do so by contacting Superintendent Craig Peterson at 605-698-3935 or cpeterson@tzts.us . In addition, a copy of the survey is available from the school office for parents who would like to review it. Tiospa Zina Tribal School believes that students’ participation in this survey will assist the school in planning, funding, and evaluating drug and alcohol prevention programs.
The SWO Local Research Review Board has approved this project to be administered in Tiospa Zina Tribal School. The SWO owns the de-identified data produced from this study and may permit its use as secondary data in future studies, as deemed permissible by the LRRB. If you have questions for the SWO about this project, you may contact Siyo Peters at siyo@swo-nsn.gov .
